Human and Animal Rights Policy

To uphold the highest ethical standards in scientific publishing, the Journal of Engineering, Technology, and Applied Science (JETAS) requires that all research involving human or animal subjects demonstrate a clear commitment to participant protection and adherence to internationally recognized ethical guidelines. This includes ensuring transparency, accountability, and respect for the rights and dignity of all individuals and communities involved in the study. The following requirements outline the ethical considerations that must be met for any manuscript submitted to JETAS.

Any study involving human subjects must include informed consent, privacy protection, and full compliance with relevant laws and guidelines to ensure fair and ethical treatment of participants. A comprehensive and detailed description of such compliance must be provided in the Methods section of the manuscript.

The study methodology must comply with the Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki), as revised in 2024. Research involving human subjects must ensure that any identifiable information—such as patients' names, initials, hospital or social security numbers, X-rays, MRIs, images, videos, charts, etc. is removed unless specific consent has been obtained to retain them. This distinction must be clearly addressed in the manuscript's Methods and/or Acknowledgements section. For studies involving Indigenous human subjects, appropriate consent must be obtained from local Indigenous representatives.

Although JETAS does not typically publish animal research, it may accept submissions in specific situations (such as when an animal experiment forms part of a broader human study). Authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office before submitting any manuscript involving animal research. Such studies must comply with the US Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, ensuring that ethical and legal standards are fully observed. Information including the sex, age, species, and other relevant characteristics of the animal subjects must be clearly detailed in the Methods section.

Authors should include a clear statement within the manuscript confirming that informed consent was obtained for all human participants and that all applicable laws and ethical guidelines were followed in cases involving animal research.
