What is IJORTAS and what are the journal’s areas of focus?
IJORTAS stands for the International Journal of Recent Technology and Applied Science, published by Lamintang Education & Training Centre. The journal focuses on recent research in applied sciences and technology, including science, engineering, biochemistry, genetics & molecular biology, computer science & IT, control & systems engineering, industrial & manufacturing engineering, materials science, and nanotechnology.
Is IJORTAS nationally or internationally indexed?
IJORTAS is accredited with SINTA 3 in Indonesia and holds both a print ISSN (2721-2017) and an online ISSN (2721-7280).
Is IJORTAS an open access journal?
Yes. All IJORTAS articles are digitally available as open access without any subscription fees.
How often is IJORTAS published per year?
The journal is published semiannually, with two issues per year (around March and September).
Is there a quota for each issue?
Yes. The quota is granted to one article per institution per issue, meaning that duplicate affiliations, and duplicate authors are not allowed within the same issue.
Does the IJORTAS offer a fast-track publication service?
Fast-track publication is not available at IJORTAS. All articles will be handled in order of submission and undergo the standard review process without exception.
Is there a template or author guideline available for IJORTAS?
Yes. IJORTAS provides author guidelines and a Word-based manuscript template, which can be downloaded from the journal’s website.
Does the manuscript have to be written in English?
Yes. English is the official language of IJORTAS and is required for all parts of the manuscript.
What citation and referencing style does IJORTAS use?
IJORTAS follows the IEEE citation style. Authors are encouraged to use a reference management tool to ensure proper formatting in accordance with the IEEE standard.
What is the required word or page count for an article?
IJORTAS accepts manuscripts within the range of 3,000 to 12,000 words, or approximately 5 to 20 pages.
What is the minimum number of references required?
A minimum of 30 references is required, with the majority drawn from recent, reputable international journals. At least 80% of the references must have been published within the last four years.
How long does it take from submission to publication in IJORTAS?
The publication process in IJORTAS involves several stages, as outlined below:

- Authors must submit their manuscript through the IJORTAS OJS system.
- The editor conducts a First Screening, which takes between one to four weeks, to ensure the manuscript aligns with the journal’s focus and scope. During this stage, the editor checks the similarity index (maximum 10%) and English grammar quality (minimum score of 90 using Grammarly or a similar tool). The editor also evaluates the title, abstract, keywords, manuscript structure, and references to ensure compliance with IJORTAS author guidelines.
- After the First Screening, the manuscript will receive one of the following statuses:
- Proceed to the peer-review stage
- Requires revision before review and resubmission
- Rejected due to major issues
- Manuscripts that pass the First Screening will be sent to two or three reviewers. The review process takes between two to twelve weeks.
- Reviewer comments are returned to the authors for revision (if required).
- After submitting the revised manuscript, the editor assigns a Double-Checking Officer to verify that revisions have been made according to the reviewers' comments. The officer also ensures that the final similarity index is below 10% and the grammar score is at least 90. This double-checking process takes between one to four weeks.
- If the Double-Checking Officer confirms the manuscript meets all requirements, the editor updates its status to Accepted.
- Authors of accepted manuscripts will receive an Acceptance Letter.
- The manuscript will then be listed on the Announcements page and moved to the editing and layout process.
- Finally, the article will be published according to the IJORTAS publication schedule, which is March and September each year.
Is there a submission fee to send a manuscript to IJORTAS?
No. IJORTAS does not charge a submission fee.
Is there an Article Processing Charge (APC)?
Yes. IJORTAS charges an APC of USD 100.00.
Is there any publication funding assistance available in IJORTAS?
Yes. Authors may apply for publication funding assistance under the IA-ESTE Scheme by submitting a request to the IJORTAS editor. Under this scheme, a publication quota is allocated to one article per country per issue, subject to approval and availability.
Are IJORTAS articles freely accessible to the public?
Yes. All published articles in IJORTAS are open access and freely available through the journal’s website.
Will authors receive a printed version of the journal?
No. IJORTAS primarily provides digital access. Authors do not receive printed copies.
How can authors request a printed version?
Authors may contact the journal’s sales department to purchase a printed copy at standard retail pricing.
Can I receive the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) during the peer review process?
IJORTAS issues a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) only after the manuscript has successfully passed the peer review process and has been officially accepted for publication.
Does IJORTAS provide a publication certificate to authors?
Yes. A publication certificate will only be issued after the article has been assigned a DOI and officially published.
What peer-review system does IJORTAS use (single-blind or double-blind)?
IJORTAS implements a double-blind peer review system, in accordance with international standards. Typically, two reviewers are assigned, but a third may be involved in special cases.
What is the average review timeline for IJORTAS?
The average review process takes between two to twelve weeks.
What do the manuscript statuses mean: Under Review, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Accepted, Rejected?
• Under Review: The manuscript is being evaluated by reviewers.
• Minor Revision: Minor improvements are required.
• Major Revision: Substantial changes are needed.
• Accepted: The manuscript has been approved for publication.
• Rejected: The manuscript has not been accepted for publication.
How should authors respond to reviewer comments?
Authors should respond politely and systematically in a "Response to Reviewer" document. Each comment should be addressed clearly, changes should be highlighted or annotated, and scientific justification must be provided where necessary.
Can authors disagree with reviewer comments?
Yes, provided the response includes strong scientific arguments and references. Authors must present their case respectfully in the "Response to Reviewer" letter.
What is IJORTAS's policy on plagiarism?
IJORTAS applies a strict zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism. All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening prior to review. The maximum allowable similarity index is 10%.
What is IJORTAS's policy on language quality and grammar?
All manuscripts must meet high standards of English proficiency. Authors are required to check their manuscripts using Grammarly or an equivalent tool. A minimum Grammarly score of 90 is mandatory to ensure clarity, readability, and academic quality.
Can authors cite blogs, Wikipedia, or social media as references?
No. IJORTAS requires all references to come from scholarly journals, academic books, or credible official reports.
Can authors cite preprint sources such as arXiv or Preprints?
No. Preprints are not acceptable references in IJORTAS, as they have not undergone peer review.
Can a manuscript based on a thesis or dissertation be submitted to IJORTAS?
Yes, as long as it is rewritten as a standalone journal article and formatted according to IJORTAS guidelines. If needed, the origin (thesis/dissertation) should be acknowledged.
What should authors do if they wish to withdraw a manuscript under review?
Authors must submit an official withdrawal request via the journal’s system or email the editor with a clear and formal explanation. Penalties will be imposed if the withdrawal is made during the review process, editing stage, or after publication.
Can authors add or change names after submission?
Yes, but only with the written consent of all authors and approval from the editor, along with an official explanation for the change.
